What E-Mail Service Should I Get???????
61There are 4 major E-Mail servers: HOTMAIL, AOL, YAHOO, and G-MAIL.
I will grade with a number system 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest for service, cost, space, and protection.
AOL has 2 services: AOL and AIM. AOL you have to pay for and AIM is free. AOL has unlimited storage SPAM protection and that is it. However AOL costs a lot of $$$$$$$ on the expensive, space, service, and protection rating being 1 the lowest and 10 the highest i would give it a low 6. AIM on the hand has 2 gigs of space and SPAM protection, that is not even worth them having it. I had had AIM and all i got was SPAM so much so that i left for YAHOO. AIM however is totally free and easy to sign-up. I would give it a very low score of a 1 to a 4.
YAHOO has unlimited, great service, free, and has a wonderful SPAM protection. They also have a SMALL BUSINESS system, and a INDIVIDUAL SMALL NETWORK for like a family.However you can't download your mail through any Email client like Outlook. For my rating in all YAHOO gets a 7.
G-MAIL on the other hand keeps increasing your space. They have wonderful SPAM protection and wonderful service. the downfall is right now of November 2006 they only allow you to sign into G-Mail if you get a invite from a G-mail user. They also say you can't use G-MAIL for business purposes. YAHOO, AIM, and AOL will allow you to use it for a business. I give G-MAIL a 9.
HOTMAIL is another great system, SPAM protection is ok and easy to sign up. You start with 25 MB if you are not in the USA.however i have been hearing that people have been mysteriously losing there accounts. You also have the common threat that if you don't check your E-Mail every 30 days the account will be cancelled. i would give it a solid 4.
I suggest Gmail and Yahoo over the rest. Still i haven't found an easy way to get people signed up with Gmail. But if you know anyone who has it have them sign you up for gmail. Yahoo is free and great.Just go to Yahoo.com click mail and sign up.
You comment that you can't download your email through Yahoo to an offline such as "Outlook"? I'm not sure why!!! I've been downloading it for years! Now, that might be a paid service of yahoo, I'm not sure - but if it is it can't be very much because I've got it <grinning> I think it's around 8 or 9 dollars a year (and worth every nickle of it if that's the case).
What I like most about yahoo is the throw away email addresses. It's great if you spend a lot of time online and visiting sites that require registration that you might never go back to! I even have them for various job postings I do online to help with anonymity.

For a while, you could go to sites that "donated" Gmail invites. Google has put a stop to that.
I'd agree with you--Yahoo Mail seems to be the best all-around.
You forgot Hotmail, which is pretty good, too, and free.
